Possibility-based thinking (PBT)

|
Possibility-Based Thinking, also referred to as Thinking Beyond Assumptions, is central to everything we do here at
Wildfire Concepts. Thinking more effectively and thinking differently are massively under-used sources of leverage,
advantage, and differentiation for today's organisations.
Wildfire Concepts is the home of PBT and thinking beyond assumptions as a tool for improving personal effectiveness and
business performance. Whether you're an individual seeking to boost your career and do better at work, or you're looking
for advice on how a company might benefit from PBT, then please contact us for more information...

PBT involves the development of an aptitude in individuals and organisations based on thinking beyond entrenched assumptions
and mental filters. PBT refers to specific techniques or skills which can be learned in order to improve the quality of
thinking and the effectiveness of thinking within organisations and for individuals. PBT is about concrete actions,
techniques, and aptitudes which stem from the generic ideals of "free thinking" and Thinking Beyond Assumptions. It is
both a set of skills which can be learned and practised and an attitude which usually (but not always) takes time to
develop.
PBT is based on an amalgamation of decades of research and idea development and is based upon very strong theoretical foundations.
Advances is neuro-science which help us get to grips with how the human mind works and improvements in our understanding
of how human evolution shapes the way we think today combine to form the theoretical backbone of PBT. Experts in effective
thinking like Edward de Bono and Systems Thinking proponents such as Peter Senge have long been writing about how thinking
becomes entrenched and how we might (1) understand the limitations of our default thinking habits and (2) find ways round
these limiting effects.
Learning about how to think beyond assumptions is crucial to our personal effectiveness because it impacts upon everything
we do and the way we understand the world around us.
